a heat cycle is safe to spay a dog.  i know you can have your dog spayed while she's in heat but have heard it costs more and it seems like it'd be more dangerous for the dog due to the excessive blood in the region.

anyone have a general time frame for how long after their cycle is over it's safer to get a dog spayed??

I've always waited till the swelling went down and everything was back to normal. My vet never said any thing about it and never had a problem.

I have done dogs not in heat,in heat, and 45 days into preg. with no ill effects. Costs 10 bucks more from my vet to spay one in heat. Had to pay 120 for the one that was 45 days into preg though.
