During the summer I like walkin up and down the river and hav some pretty good success. Mainly shoot carp cus they're a bigger target but wen I get a good shot at a gar I take it. My buddy said there was one swimming rite at me he said he'd bet me 10$ I couldn't hit him within 3 inches of the head.... Bet it won't happen again! Lol

Nice. I'm just getting into bowfishing and that's all we shoot is gar for the most part. We have some huge ones here. I'm trying to find a place to shoot carp at.

where u located?
I'm near ft hood and we have a lake that holds a LOT of carp and a good bit of gar. its called still house hollow lake. another lake near me is lake belton, but not sure if there are gar or carp, but I'm sure there are, just never looked for them or inquired if there were any.

is a 60-70lb draw wt. a lil much for bow fishing? if so, iv got a bear kids/female bow that i think goes up to like 30lbs. but the draw length is way to short for me to hunt with, but i can shoot it

My fishin bow is set at 35 pounds so I can draw and hold it for a long time. So wen we are in a boat I can shoot quick wen a fish pops up cus you don't hav much time in a dirty lake. And belton has some dang good bow fishing. You can cruise around the bank in the morning and shoot them till your arm falls off.

I live in Southeast Texas near Beaumont. I think a few Lakes around here have some buffalo carp but I've never seen them. The ideal draw weight you want is 40-50 lbs. In my opinion 30lbs is a bit too weak unless your shooting out of a boat up close. I've got a 70lb compound and I just lowered it to 50lbs. I use a 50lb recurve now. Your really not shooting that far so you don't need a heavy draw weight you would get worn out pulling 60-70lbs.

Mayb mine is more than 35. That's just a guess. I know it's not higher than 50 cus it's easy easy to draw. And It passes all the way through 5-10 pound carp as far as the string will reach.

I'd say 40lbs. Mine usually always passes all the way thru as well
