Looking to take my boys shark fish anybody have any advise or tricks on shark fishing from the surf?

I used to do a bit of shark fishing on the Georgia coast down on St. Simons Island. My biggest problem was always getting the bait out far enough. If you have a kayak that you can use to take your bait out 200+ yds then you can catch some really nice shark.

my uncle has a kayak im gonna try that out. How big of hook do I need and how big of line with out going crazy.

My dad and stepmom do a bit of surf fishing. He came home with two kayaks, but by chance on the same day she ordered him a bait cannon. Basically, it's a potato gun that launches the bait out there for you. I don't know too much about it, but from what i understand they freeze the bait with the hook in it. Haven't seen it in action, but it sounds efficient and awesome. Check out bait launchers on youtube and it may give you second thoughts on a kayak. As far as I know, they haven't used the kayak's to this day. lol

thanks man I went out this mourning caught nothing on the surf caught some small fish at jettys. The surf just t to rough today
