I don't wanna high jack anyones thread but it is in similar discussion of boots so I will post it here if it is fine with Stoked. I mentioned earlier I use rubber boots... do you carry a pack when you hunt?? a pair of liner socks and light Smartwool socks don't weight much. the wool socks dry quickly, and with the linger sock it pulls the moisture away from your feet. |

No I have never tried any other sock beside Cotton and I use 2 on each feet and band aids on my big toes to stop the rubbing! lol I will look into a pair of those liner socks and a pair of Smartwool socks also! Thank you for the suggestions.

The danner sharp tail covey snake boot in my favorite boot by a long shot. They are waterproof and so comfortable I wear them year round. I sure wish they would start making them again. If they did I would probably buy two or three pairs just to have as backups in case they stopped making them again. That's how much I like em.

Everyone has listed some great boots but I have a recommendation on something a little different. We hunt one place in particular that is solid black land mud and we are usually walking in mud and knee deep water all day. My son started using high top football cleats for hunting on that property and it didnt take me long to see what an advantage he had. Especially hightailing it to a bay. I found myself leaving my lace ups at the house and hunting in a pair of cleats myself. I love them! Good traction, comfortable, light weight(even when wet and muddy), and relatively cheep. Other than that I am usually in cowboy boots. I admit that I am way past due a good pair of snake boots though.  |

They were Nike's leather model. Man, they would not dry out. |

Anyone ever tried the Redhead snake boots from Bass Pro? I don't hunt in the summer without snake boots as we have more than out share of snakes down here in Fla. I have tried several different brands and the Redhead pull on style with a zipper on the inside, are light and comfortable. They are waterproof for about a year, then your socks will start to get damp, but mine are about 3 years old, wore out, and I have never actually had water in the boots.
I like them as they are light and comfortable when you do a lot of walking like we do on the public land hunts.
Just curious as no one mentioned them.
Cracker, I too have a pair of the zip up Redhead snakeboots. I have tried the Rockys, but for the money the Redheads were just as good. Either way, 1 year max on the waterproof factor. |

I tried the Rocky's but they were heavier than the Redheads and not as comfortable to walk in all day. I may have to look into a few of the other boots posted on here for winter hunting. The $20 boots sure are cheaper than the snake boots (the Redheads are $135 at Bass Pro). If they are comfortable to wear all day walking, and have an aggressive tread so you don't slip, they may be the ticket for the winter hunts.

My buddy had the justin snake boots bought a pair today sick of messing up all my other boots. Cant stand wet feet.
