they have an auction every year down around fredricksburg I think .  might check the tpwd and see whom is permitted to raise and sell I know you have to have a permit from them to own and keep them penned up .

Anything would work as long as it was fairly gental I going to build a fence around my dog pens and keep them close to some young dogs to help deer brake them as of right now I don't have a problem with my dogs running deer but I just made a cross the pups are not here yet but I want them to grow up around deer and to know running them is trouble but the only reason I'm wanting them is the gyp was tuff to breake but has made a awesome dog

gamey dogs usually start out trashy as heck...but they are usually the best dogs once they figure out what game to chase...I have had some super gamey pups in the past and it was hard breaking them off of deer till I figured out how to break them...deer scent and a deer shoulder mount with a white paper towel tacked on to the mount...the scent goes on the paper towel...and every time the mount touches the pup the pup gets lit up...3 times in succession works great and repeat 2 more times in a 2 week period and pups are broke off deer before they start hunting...sometimes a repeat session is needed about three months later but usually not...

Bred doe start at 1000 and go up. A well bred doe comes with DNA papers. Mind blowing the amount of money
in the deer breeding.

no fancy set up required...the shoulder mount is the deer mt on the wall...the back side is ply board...I use a white paper towel rolled up an tacked on the back side on the ply board...put about a teaspoon of deer scent on the towel and I make sure they can smell the scent before lighting each pup up...I always start with the alpha pup...I want that one to cower down first and the others follow suit...

I wait until they are 6 months old and they have already bayed hogs in a pen or on staged hunts...I think it is important that the pups are confident on the desired game before breaking them...and I do it in their kennel or at home and not in the woods...a cattle prod works pretty good as well...

white paper towel to simulate the white tail of a running deer...

I am sure a fresh deer hide will work as well...when the hide touches the dog or pup hit the juice button and make him think it is the deer causing the pain...

I always set my pups up to fail when I'm trash breaking them I load them and take them to a high fence and when I see deer at a feeder I dump one or two and road them that way and when they turn what ever way the deer gose I light them up then drive around and do it again and tell they don't want none of that smell and then I hual them home and show them a hog and pet and praise and then take them to there pen and do that for three or 4 weekend straight and it ain't failed me yet

This is a good way when one has access to plenty of deer...

that's the way it works with goats jwdeltx  lol   Rueben it makes one think that one of these life like 3-d deer targets or decoys placed out in the pasture with deer scent on it would work quite well also . when the pups haul but out to bay it up , light them up !!

probably gonna regret saying this but I have  no problem with mine they don't care for deer .... or haven't ...any body on here had any problems with parker dogs running deer ?    I don't know if having deer around your pens would keep the dogs off em ...plus from what I have  heard the deer would ping off the fence until they killed themselves ....

I think it has a lot to do with number of hogs in an area. I don't have a lot of hogs. Mine do good as long as there is plenty of sign. If they get bored u better get ready. I have deer that will bed up and feed within feet of my dogs. I have buck rubs within 10 steps of the end of leads. My dogs are trashy without a doubt. They will leave a deer race if they cross a hog. I have seen them do it multiple times. I have caught the devil trying to trash break them. In these pine thickets u can't see what they are running lots of times and u have to catch them crossing a road to be sure. I do wish I had a place like curcross said that I knew had only deer and no hogs. Then I could light them up when they struck. I am currently trying to find deer crossing roads then turn out and light them up when they try to leave on it. Work in progress I guess until I get it done. I think if a person has a couple dogs that are completely trash broke and can send pups with them it goes a long ways to starting them right.

Mr. Larry, got 3 fulls, and one 1/2 right now. Had one other full that a hog got awhile back. Never had to break them off deer at all. Never seen one of them even turn towards one, and we have a decent amount where I hunt most of the time. Knock on wood!!!!

it was the same with my catahoulas [ pure ]  they may bump one and run about 50 yards and then drop off .  but these hound crosses will run one a little further   lol  .  I had a buck deer run my cats out of the woods on a ranch in ola  funniest thing I ever saw . I had to catch that young buck by the horns and hold him till my buddy could take the dogs on off a ways . . the buck had been raised by a lady that does rescues and it was raised with her bulldog . and it kinda liked to play with the dogs a lot , his antlers were all chewed up from playing with her bulldog .
