hey guys. just wonderin... what are all the rules and regulations on tags and open season and what not? In australia its all free for all any time of the year as long as its on private property.... its always been a dream to come over there and hunt moose, elk, bear. etc. one day. if ya'll could just explain the basics on it all that'd be great....  Grin

A lot depends on what state you hunt and what species. Here in Texas generally the white tail deer season with a bow opens the first weekend in October and runs through the first weekend in November. And, the gun deer season runs from the first weekend in November through the first weekend in January. But, it varies depending on which county your in and if your land is using MLD permits. Confused yet?

Here is a link to the TP&W hunting regs. It is a good place to get started on all our hunting regs.

Your welcome. Also, remember that any exotics like fallow deer, axis deer, aoudad sheep, mouflon.....etc can be hunted year round. All you'll need is a hunting license and a place to go. It's pretty much the same for hogs.

On the white tails, mule deer, and turkey's there are tags on the hunting license that you have to tag the animal with. Plus, you have to log them on your license. There are spaces on the back to log your kills. When you get your license they have a pamphlet that they will give you with most all the regs in it. And, it pays to read all of them cause the game wardens can be pretty strict sometimes.

not a good idea to get caught with untagged game. my little brother and dad decided to wait till they got to camp to tag thier deer cuz it was gettin dark..when they pull in camp the game warden was right there waitin and they both got tickets. bet they wont do that again lol
