I posted in the dog trade. I think we're about to re home all four of our dogs. 2 untrained 2 fully trained pretty sure I'm just gonna give them away. My trained ones are older and none of my dogs have been hunted in almost 2 years.
Reason behind it. My husband joined the Army. I have 3 kids and work full time as well as go to college. I cannot take care of them the way they should be cared for. I feel guilty though. Molly is 12 and we have had her since she was 6 weeks old. Jahsper is 8 and we have had him since he was 8 weeks. I love them a lot but I know that it is not fair to make them live in kennels when they were bred to hunt.
Do you guys think I am making the right decision?

If they get worked regularly, I believe they will appreciate it more than living the kennel life. You are making a good call I think.

I think you are making a good decision; I think you should make SURE they go to a good home. I would make a deal with the person that gets them. Deal is, if the dogs end up making real nice dogs and the new owner decided to breed the dogs one day, you get the option on getting a pup. I think that is fair.
I gave two dogs away when I was in the Army. I was a single Officer deploying to Iraq, I had no choice.

If I gave them away I would ask that for any reason they didn't work out to return them. But that's just me.

I wouldn't get rid of a 12 yr old dog. In my opinion she earned her right to retire with her "family". I'd keep the 8 yr old as well. I'd get rid of the other two

Except I don't have a place to keep them or I would. I had a place but turns out it won't be working out.
