Papers are real good for starting a campfire. Other than that I had rather get a unknown breeding or one that came from someone that was just breeding best to best. Most will call me crazy but like this I have no expectation. The dog is what it is. If it don't make the cut or do as I want I have no preconceived notion of what it should be. When faced with that along with the monetary input u may find urself making excuses.

It's not the papers that are hard to trust- it the guy who put the papers together. I stand by registered and unregistered dogs; but I deal with guys I know and trust. It limits me on who I may get pups from, but I know they are honest, and I also call them friends. Six of my eight dogs are registered and I prefer a purebred registered dog over one that is not when all else is equal.

Paperwork is as honest as the person who hands it to you in *most* cases.

I can take my Preacher dog and single register him NKC....which I'm doing just for the heck of it.....but because of the breeders organizations UKC isn't accepting single registered Blueticks. If I wanted him single registered thru UKC I'd have to do it as an English....and they'd take it!!! That's what's ridiculous.
On the "English Breed"......Walker Dogs, RedTicks and Blueticks all in one pedigree? How the heck is that Kosher? Makes no dang sense, lol.

Well I thought papers indicated both dogs to b full blood of same breed. Never heard of 2 different breeds being papered as one. In reality what do u gain out of a papered dog. I actually bought a dam good dog that's papered but I still haven't sent them in to register her. Just really ok need to unless it's gonna make her better.

well like was said earlier the english covered the English , bluetick and walker in the beginning and as such you can take those two [ bluetick and walker ] and get them back into the English registry . but you can't take a black and tan and do it ect. ect. . it is up to the breed asscn's as to what dogs are able to do it not the ukc . as of jan first the ukc is starting a crossbred registry that will allow crossbred HOUNDS to compete against the registered dogs in all but the bench shows . and I think that will be a good thing in helping to keep the paper hangers down . instead of fixing papers they can just register them as crossbreds and still compete for trophy's .

actually the UKC doesn't need the breed associations for any decision making. I was informed by UKC that UKC owns the registry and the standards and can do what they want when they want. They ONLY use the breed associations for guidance, but in the end UKC can do what want. LOL the UKC cross breed program is to cash in on all those crossbred dogs and pups PKC is registering... Mean green that mighty dollar...

AW....Preacher came from UKC registered parents...the guy I got him from as a wee pup did send me pics of the sire/dam's papers and registration numbers....but alas...they were in my old broken phone. I've asked him once more but didn't want to bother him to much so....unless I get the #'s before I send off the NKC paperwork.....he'll just be single registered thru NKC.
Lance Epperson...buddy...if you read this....PLEASE shoot me a pic of the papers again if it's not to much trouble!!!

kevin I never got anything . go to the ukc web page and in the coonhound forums, go to the registration section and ask the question . they are real good about giving a quick response . without the puppy papers you may need an affidavit from lance . if you do let me know and I can help you and lance out since I'm a lot closer to him . and I think you can just download and copy the rest the paperwork from ukc to fill out . other than that it's just paying the reg. and late fee .. then if these pups turn out good we'll put him in one of the $$kc's and enter him in the stud programs and both make some money ohh and send me the names and numbers on the preacher ped and i'll see if I can research his ped back a few generations do it in a pm on here .

I've talked to UKC and Lance called me back this morning. He actually still had some of the puppy papers and he's gonna send them to me this week. Then I just have to send them in with any late fees.
Robert, I'll see if I can pm you thru tap-a-talk and send the pic. If not I guess I'll have to use the dang photo bucket

My dad always said, we raise dogs to hunt, not look good on paper..
But I agree, the papers on a dog are only as good as the person giving them too you. I still have too much faith in man kind, and take most people's word for what they say.
