It's that time to get out of the Army and move to Texas!! Just curious where y'all think the best places to hog hunt are. I hear East Texas, I hear south Texas.  Looking to settle down with the family and slooooow down.  Looking for a good family community where I can have 10-20 acres with the dogs.  I'm here down in South East, Ga and the hog hunting is disappointing to say the least.  I have a friend up in Athens who makes Tyler surrounding areas the place to be.  Just figured if reach out and get everyone else's thoughts.

I'm in that area now and can't wait to get back in my home territory which is west of I-35 . east texas is ate up with deer hunters and landowners that are P.O'd with most hog hunters . especially around the Canton , Athens area .  give me some farm land and farmers any day . they hate hogs and love it when folks offer to kill them .   just a thought and my opinion but there are too many small tracts not big enough to hunt around here you need around 10 land owners in an area to approve you hunting just to get you a good couple hundred acre spot  .

That's the same way it is around here.... Bunch of Hollywood hunters who jack it up for the people that are serious about it.  Except it sees the hogs aren't very plentiful.  Where would you recommend that would be a good place to raise a family and find good hunting and good hunting property?

I really enjoy living in the burbs of Houston.  Close enuff to food stores, good schools and within a 5 min drive I can see longhorns grazing in a pasture. Places I hunt are with in 30 min from my drive. AND the employment rate is great..lmo
