dodge product orange for those days 1968-1970 dodge charger and Plymouth RoadRunner as well...charger was nice but the roadrunner...awesome...I was a kid in those days and I saw many a bad to the bone cars in those days...back then you saw a sports car and you knew exactly what it was...nowadays there are so many it is hard to tell...

back then every black top country road had skid marks 100 yards long or longer at intersections where everyone was burning tires on the road...gas was 25 to 29 cents a gallon...

In the show they painted it orange because that was the only color cooter had in the shop. They were getting ready for their first race in a hurry. Can't remember  what color it was before it was painted.

I saw a "reunion" of the characters years ago and they originally planned to paint the car Confederate Gray, however when they realized that in Georgia in the fall EVERYTHING was gray the producer told the man to pick out something that would stand out.  BAM "hunter" orange was invented.  Grin

If I remember right they only filmed either the pilot or first season in Georgia before moving it to CA.
