With all of these super hogs in the woods, I figure it's about time to come up with a super dog. I just need one good gyp, plenty of studs, and a blender  Based on my extensive internet research, this is what I think it will take to make superdogs. Y'all see if you can find any holes in my program. The foundation gyp is going to be a Bluetick, I expect with her bottom, and nose I will be starting on the right track. The daddy's will be YBMC - cuz everyone knows a yella dog finds more hogs. Plott - might need some extra nose at some point Double Glass eyed Cat - Don't those eyes help them see better at night  BLUE Lacey - cuz everyone has to have a little bit of psycho in them, and if they come out blue they are worth more.  Pit - You know, to add a little grit to the program Mountain cur - in hopes that it will throw a bob tail super dog broken coat jagd - because the little nazi's are just cool Here is the kicker though. The gyp needs to have 20 years line breeding behind her, and the studs need at least 10 years behind each. I figure with 20 years from the dam, and 80 years (we are adding them all together) the super dog pups will have 100 years of line breeding behind them. I don't know about y'all, but I think this is a guarantee for success.  |

It looks like I missed some... Birddog - I assume this means the pups will be forever busy, and will not overheat. Airdale -  ? Maybe some more grit to go along with the pit, or am I missing something here. Beagle - Walker -? Y'all help me out here, I don't know why we need these breeds, but I am sure there is a good reason. Not to mention, it adds another 40 years to the programs history |

Chris, If its going to be a Super dog, add a touch of retriever. Its a pain in the a$$ draging pigs out the woods. You may also want to add a bit of boxer because after all they were originally intended to hunt wild boar and a touch of dogo, so that they can run over 30mph and hold for extended periods of time, up to an hour or more. |

I tell ya what, I've got a gyp on my yard right now that is 1/4 bluetick, 1/4 heeler,1/4 catahoula 1/4 dogo and a male that is 1/4 catahoula, 1/4 BMC and 1/2 uglydog. I'll sell them both to ya for an arm and a leg and you'll be halfway there.

CBK, Don't flatter yourself...you have left no negative impression And there were certainly no digs directed at anyone in this thread...Just some light hearted humor based on things I have read and heard over the years.  Raider, With regards to the super dogs, I am just messing around obviously. But I do have a serious question for you about a dog. The Clay dog that you mention. Is he a cur, or is he a cur hound cross? Did you raise him, or buy him already going. and do you know if any of his siblings hunt the way he hunts? One last question, You have experience with the Blueticks from the coon dog world. Do you run any on hogs, or are you running curs or cur crosses on hogs? |

Clay is 7/8 cur 1/8 Walker, if I would have known he had Walker in him I probably wouldnt have bought him....lol I bought him as a 4 Y/O. We mainly have Cur/Hound crosses. We have a nice pack of dogs under two years old. The only sibling of Clay's still alive is a year younger and the guy that has him says he was doing very well but he was having a deer problem with him so he got VERY rough on the dog to break him off the deer and told me he ruined him and he is now a family pet. but I just had a guy contact me with a aunt to clay on his mommas side that he wants to breed back to Clay. He also has a litter of puppies that are inbread (all Clay blood) he wants to give me a pair of females when they are weined to raise and breed back to Clay if they turn out. I dont hunt Open dogs so I havent personaly hunted with blueticks for hogs because you almost never find one that is silent, but Glen Hesseltine down in Sinton, TX has a Dang good one full Bluetick. Oh yea it is Open
