Heard a lot of good things about satin balls. U can google it to find recipe. I know several that swear by them.

Had an old schooler tell me that to much fat in a diet coats the liner of the stomach and the food is not digested properly, no scientific data to back this up but sure seems to stand to reason....

Your body can only absorb so much. The rest is left in a stinky pile. Worm them for tapes most importantly. Feed them a little over the recommended amount listed. Satin balls will work in addition to your normal feeding. Giving them a bucket full of lard is just going to give them the number 2s.

just remember...the colder it gets the more calorie intake is needed...in the summer my dogs get between 1/2 a bowl to less than 2/3 bowl...in the cold days they might get a full bowl each with a tablespoon of left over cooking oil I keep around just for my dogs...increase food as the temp. decreases and as the temp. goes up cut down to maintain proper weight...another thing to remember...the shorter the coat on a dog the more calories it will burn in the cold...that has been my observation...

and like already mentioned, need to keep the dogs worm free as well...
