Has anyone heard of this? I came home yesterday to notice my BMC drooling out one side of his mouth, more than normal. After looking at him better his ear on that side was just hanging and his eye was not blinking... He is only 10 months old. I took him to the vet and the vet seems to think it is from getting hit in the head and caused nerve damage. Has anyone had a dog with this?

Several things can cause what you describe....some permanent and some caused by bacterial infections that can be treated. More than likely the dog needs antibiotics at the very least.
First thing I would do is find a vet that doesn't just "seem to think".

The vet gave me steroids to give him for the next week and he said he will talk to some collegues to see if what they think. He has never seen this before.

Not trying to mettle in your business and dont personally know your vet but I would take my dog to a different vet and at least get a second opinion. If its a bacteria it could get worse and to the point of no return.

i had something similar on 2 different occasions, its called bell's palsy for humans, not sure for animals. either way, i got it immediately following the onset of a bad cold, not pneumonia, but wasn't the sniffles either. as bryant said, its a bacteria infection and can be treated with antibiotics. and as the groundskeeper said, find another vet for a sec opinion, and get the dog started on some anti biotic asap. the longer you wait, the worse the paralysis will get and may not go away.

Why should I trade one tyrant three thousand miles away for three thousand tyrants one mile away? An elected legislature can trample a man's rights as easily as a king can!

Nvr seen it, but heard of it several times. I would imagine its as rare in dogs as it is in humans

Boy that site sounds more like a money gimik than anything. Now, according to that link you posted, has ur dog had anything that would cause the symptoms? Also, whats the deal with golden retrievers and them more suseptible than other breeds, whats in their make up that would affect them more? Do they randomly bash their heads into walls causing head trama, do they run in front of moving cars to get the spinal injuries, r they a breed of a poor immune system that cant fight off common infections, or could it be the owners and vets of the dogs misdiaognosing the eye and ear infection and letting the infection get out of control. That link opens more questions than provides answers
