Anyone ever heard, seen, or had a Redbone coon hound crossed with a leopard catahoula. My uncle has an impressive leopard hog dog that's getting a little old. Most of his dogs are up in age. So me and him got to talking about trying to breed my red bone and his leopard and get him some youth back in his bunch of dogs. My redbone does decent with coons she's more of a "me too" dog. I was just wondering what people would think about such a cross

I've been running cur hounds crosses for years . the red bone and cat is the only hound I haven't tried .  they make good dogs  but both parents bring something to the table . you just have to try it and see if you like it , some may be open or semi open and all could be tight mouthed . just some things cur folks have to think about  .

Good point. In really excited at the idea of it. So hopefully my uncle is serious about it and we can get these two dogs together here soon. I figure the pups ought to have some hunt to em

some of the best dogs I have hunted behind were cur/hound crosses...and some purebred hounds as well...

As others have said, cur-hound crosses can be very good. We have used Plott-BMC crosses on hogs and cattle. Some were very good dogs.
