There are two different Masons.  One is Texas Mason who is in Texas and has good wooods hog dogs (Tx Mason's Chili, Happy, etc.) this is the Mason that most on this board are familiar with.  The other Mason is Sam Mason from Enterprise, LA. Jonesville area(Catahoula Parrish).  He has an old line of working ranch/cow dogs.  (Mason's Howly, Mason's Snow, Ranger Mason, etc.).  Just a point of clarification that when talking about Catahoula's, sometimes folks don't know there are two Masons.

Redriverslim,
The Sam Mason dogs, you say "oldline" cow and hog dogs. How would you say they are different than the catahoula most of us are familure with?

My own line, the great granddad to this bloodline came out of LA 20 +yrs ago, but I cant tell you from whom now been to long ago, I know he was something Mr Mason had at one time but dont think he raised the dog.

Mr. Mason do you remember a dog named Buck, Floyd in Hondo had him.

Tx Mason Catahoulas, Columbus Texas &, RiverBottom Catahoulas, Bryan Tx. They have their own lines that go back to Sam Mason of LA, Fatcahachee of Fl. and then Goldstar, Cowhouse, McGuires lines to mention a couple that I don't think you can go wrong with.

Sam Mason and I both have dogs from each other.
Facahatchee , SwampPop, and Browning make up what my line is out of, I just like the bigger, longer legged, with sq. head catahoula's.
Breed woods dogs to woods dog.

Kevin, the dogs name is Woodrow. I'd have to look at my files, but he's somewhere between 18 months and 2 years old. He's out of Oswald x Lily.

I started out with an old Louisiana line ( Balentine) most of my dogs go back to Sammy Balentines dogs in one way or another. I really liked the way he bred dogs. Big mouthed, big headed with lots of drive.
