Well I'm in a very good mood today. Cause it's Friday? Sure, but that's not it. You won't find me on here about 7:00 tonight. I'll be glued to the big screen as the Houston Astros take the field for the first televised game of the season. That makes this one of my favorite days of the year!
Is it because I think the Astros have a great chance at the playoffs this year? No, in fact I think our pitching may cause us to get nowhere this season. Is it because I like the team they're playing tonight? Nope, they are playing the Tigers. I hate the Tigers. I have an ex-girlfriend who is from Detroit, so I always secretly root against them, lol. It's baseball man!! Been my favorite spectator sport since I was just a just a little tike. I have a head full of baseball stats going all the way back to 1927 and the original "Murderers Row"(name given to the NY Yankees hitting lineup). I would be this enthusiatic even if I lived in Tampa Bay, and my team was the Devil Rays(Uggh)!
So come on folks. Dust off your caps and root for your hometown team! Remember, this is Baseball. More than any other in the world, this is our Sport  Grin
"I see great things in baseball.  It's our game--the American game.  It will take people out-of-doors, fill them with oxygen, give them a large physical stoicism.  Tend to relieve us from being a nervous, dyspeptic set.  Repair these losses, and be a blessing to us.---Walt Whitman

Sean,

I played baseball for 11 years, I enjoyed playing the game, but have never been able to enjoy watching a game.

These days I would rather be in the woods. Wink

heck i've probably been a big fan since i was aound 6 or 7. one of the best games i ever went to as a kid; they lost the game 3-2 to the Cardinals, but Jose Cruz hit a home run to deep right field. i could watch baseball 365 days a year if it was on. i think it's the first thing i ever became obssesed with.lol

My boys play baseball, and love to go to Astro's games at the ballpark. But, they don't care much for watching the games on TV.

that must have been such a great moment to look back on though capt. i had read that he hit the first one out of the dome. he also happens to be one of my all time favorites(even though he quit playing just before i was born). who knows what his numbers might have looked like if he had taken better care of himself; they might be talking about the "house that Mick built". great player!

I really like how we got the hooks in corpus now, it's one of the best ballparks to go watch a game in, small but great veiws of the game no matter where you are. never was big on the stats but do enjoy watching LIVE games Cool
