Ruby ^

Si ^

Boudreaux ^

Y'all my friend Mike Bolen recently had a string of bad luck and has lost all three of these hog dogs Ruby , Si and Boudreaux  within the last few weeks.

There's a reason why all my pictures of these dogs are with them hooked on to the dog box or being held and that's because when they weren't they were out deep in the woods hunting. They would also roll out after the hog was caught so you'd have to catch'em to get hog and dog pictures .. Always lookin for that next hog

Mike didn't ask me to do this and never is the type to brag on his dogs , but those dogs worked hard till the end and I just would like to show my appreciation to Mike and his dogs for all the hogs they got us on

Sorry for your loss Mr.Bolen

Take care

Sure hated to hear that about Mike's dogs. It's hard enough to lose one good dog, let alone 3.  Sorry for your loss Mike.

Thanks Chris and thanks everyone. Finally lost Ruby to leptospirosis after fighting it for a few months. Then one evening last week I lost Boudreaux to a boar hog and Si got ran over about an hour later. His garmin collar got cut thru severing the gps wire. By the time I made it back to the truck for my quick track it was too late. It made me sick and I thought about hanging it up for the first time on the drive home that night.

Man, Mike that is a bad deal. I had the same thing happen a few years ago, but it was over a couple months time. All I had left was a bulldog. Just want to enccourage you don't hang it up just hang in. As bad as it was and frustrating it has been fun to try and make some dogs and get going again. Good luck to you.

Oh no, I'm not going anywhere. I've got 4 pups that just turned a year old that I've been line breeding towards the past several years. Plus plenty of related dogs out there that I know of and have placed with people over the years to breed back to if needed.

It just sucks losing the only older dogs I had left all at once. But UNDERDOG, with a little sweet talking from Peachcreek Grin, hooked me up with a couple of gyps to hunt.

He told me on the phone yesterday what happened.  I hunted behing thoes dogs and can't say anything bad about them. Thay ate part Nigerian cuz them fools can flat out run for days. Its hard to lose good dogs. But what makes Mike successful is he gets right back in there and puts his experience in these up and commers

Hate to hear about your loss! I know exactly what you're going through..... I lost my best 2 strike dogs on the same day this past fall within an hour apart!! I wanted to quit too but I'm still pushing on, but I sure do miss them. Luckily I've got some young dogs coming on pretty good too.

Hate to hear that, I know all to well how it feels, lost my original pack due to injuries and old age, second group I put together a hog killed one and I lost my other two in a shady deal where I let someone borrow them and never saw them again, third time I had a pack of young dogs I had bred up and raised and as soon as they all got going good and could strike hogs they got killed off one by one, so now I'm back to the building stage again, just had to roll up my sleeves and put in the time again and it's starting to show. Sounds to me that you've bred and placed pups wisely, for situations like this....
