I prefer male in all dogs. No real reason except for less maintenance as far as heat cycles. I have seen some awesome gyps that will flat out keep up with any male on the planet. I just prefer a male.

I prefer a females 100% of the time except for the catch dog.  I will always choose a female hunting/baydog over a male.

Except for the Catch dog- must be big male.

I prefer females. It seems easier to get reliable replacements if you focus on a good female pack imho.

I have a yard full of females. I can hunt and only take female dogs. I didn't plan it this way just kinda happened. I have a pen full of pups. The one I have that keeps grabbing me as the one I should keep is a female. My second choice is male. Beings the litter was 8male 4female I wasn't expecting to pick a female. All the pups are twinkies at a slight distance so it wasn't due to markings or anything. Just like the way she acts.

i like females dogs. they don't seem to fight as much as males. like the saying i have said before that a buddy told me. If you aint got a good female you are out of dogs and dont know it.

A while back I took two of my dogs for a run , on the way back I saw a fellow hunter on a place near the road I called him and he told me they had a big hog bayed and all his dogs were wore out. Took my two JIPPS to the bay and they made me proud. Not to take any thing away from his dogs , they were wore out and hot . When the hog shook the other dogs including the bull dog , they each grabbed an ear and took him to the bank of the pond . BITCH POWER !!! HUNT'UM UP !!!!   [ Fresh dogs ]

There is no reason I choose female over male. I pick by what I see. If I like what I see and get a feeling it's the better dog that is what I pic. Beyond that I guess it was just what was offered. I have had several dogs given to me. Not always the best dogs but I saw potential. Just as many these guys that have them prefered male over female simply due to the heat cycle.

I really dont have a preference either way, just the individual dog that I look at. My dad used to tell me them gyps come in heat twice a year, them male dogs are in all year!

I prefer females. Theres a saying here that females come on heat but males are always on heat.
