Anyone ever heard of an outlaw cur? If so good or bad? Who they came from?
Thanks in advance

I thought it was Randy Dominy from Ga. who bred those dogs. They were bird dog x bulldog crosses.

I ran against Randy's dogs in the first Wild Boar Conservation Assoc. (WBCA) Baying contest. It was in Eufala, Ala. & only the second baying contest ever held. Jay Dorsey held the first one in So. Carolina.
I was lucky enough to win the baying contest with a Catahoula named Dawg. Randy beat me in the drag race in the final heat with over 70 dogs entered. I think I placed 3rd with the same dog, named Dawg.  You could have covered all 4 dogs with a blanket when they hit the finish line. This was over a 1/4 mile drag thru the woods. I ended up high point dog & let me tell you, there was some tough competion.

Back several years ago, he competed in many hog bay competitions. And he was very competitive, winning his share. I was told his dogs were Pointer-Bulldog crosses and that's what they looked like. I did not know anything about how they were in the woods but they were good in the pen. Bayed close and placed high if they didn't catch.

Guy here is one pic. of him. Most of my pics. of him, he is cut up. If I hunted him by himself like you do he would bay until I got there or another dog got there & then he would catch.  If I turned him into a bay, he was straight catch. Not a big dog at all & if he weighed around 50#.
The three kids on the right are my daughters & my favorite cheerleaders. They all hunted with me. That little boy on the left holding the vest is Pat & he is 6 ft 3" now & has his own pack of dogs that go back to that cur dog in the pic.

Guy I got him fro Sowe Smith. Their family had cows & hogs in the woods when we had open range. Their Catahoulas were leggy slim built dogs who could run all day. They had good noses & all the stick you wanted. He was the best cur dog I every owned. He reproduced good dogs but nothing in his category. Of course we never had any gyps to breed to him in his category either. Still he produced dogs that would stick on a running hog 3-6 hours.
