T5 collar should have exact same reception as DC 50, they both have to the GLONASS sats, long range antennas, and GPS, this should make teh range better than the 30's or 40's with fewer lost signals, the 30's have the GPS rig on the collar on top of the dogs neck is why they typically have better distance than the 40's.  The battery life on the 50 is just a pinch better than the T5's don't know why since the only real difference in them is the T5 has a few less perks so they are legal for Comp coon hunts. With the rescue mode activated on the 50 the battery life is 50 something hrs.

So the DC 50 is better buy than the T5 if ya want them for hunting only?? I've seen then combos with DC 50 are cheaper than with T5.

The T5 is better in my opinion because it can be used with a alpha and 320. 50 can only be used on a 320. I'm looking to buy a T5 also lol

If you have no intention of buying a alpha which collar is better?? Is it worth the extra money to buy a T5 or just stick with the DC50's??? The only difference between the two are the compatibility with the 320 and alpha???

the t-5 is the comp. version of the collars and has less items on it like tree and bark indicator all it does is track . the 50's are the way to go if you just want to hog hunt and right now most everybody has them at a reduced price and clearance . personally I think garmin took a step back on the t-5's for the competition coon hunters and should still be making  the 50's available for the pleasure hunters .
