Matt, Chris, Mandi, my son Joel and I headed out to hunt with Mr. Harvey at his ranch in Waller County this morning. Dogs hit the ground at 7:30 and we were done at 8:30 with 4 hogs caught. It was hot and humid... the bulldogs were in bad shape, over heating, on the last hog from breaking and running a couple of times before they caught it. Matt got his litle pit, Spooky, on the first three hogs for the first time... he caught good. If it would have been cool like last week we could have made a day out of it as we only hit one corner of the ranch.

Here's a few pics... I know Mandi got some better ones with her good camera.

First hog...

Sceond hog with Matt and Spooky...

Third hog with Joel, 155# on the scale...

Joel and I with the last hog, dead on 250# on the scale...

Man I had a good time this morning even though it felt more like work than hunting haha.  It was HOT and Lord knows I hate the heat but the action kept me from noticing.  I was real pleased with all the dog work today and glad to see my pit catch for the first time.  I got him from BarM a few months ago and have just been working on getting him used to me and on the lead and I was glad to see that I had not done all that in vain this morning.  I was real happy to see Tiger and Smokey and Crow come up with the spotted sow all by themselves since they were the yougest dogs on the hunt.  Annie impressed me too since she hasn't hunted since June due to heartworm treatment, I can't say shes lost anything since the last time I hunted with her.

Thanks everyone.

Bryant, they're fine now. Tyson snapped out of it pretty quick, but Clifford was a little wobbly for a while. Filled him with pedialite and poured some alcohol on him, he rebounded soon after that. I guess i'm gonna have to retire the old man in the heat and just run him in the cooler weather.
