I have a rough pack and loose pack . The rough pack are all vested. The cd's are vested. The loose dogs are not. Rough pack consist of 3 dogs. One is straight catch the other 2 are gonna get them some once he catches.

To me it's best just to know your dogs and how you hunt creeks ponds and rivers play a part in it as well |

Always run a vest on my ruff dog and CD!
I would rather the vest slow them down a little than loose a dog that I could have prevented by offering protection.  It is the price I pay for running a super rough dog.

Cur dogs get a lighter bay type vest and Bulldogs get catch vest.I run ruff dogs though only time they come off is when it's to hot to run em rather take a chance on getting cut than guarantee overheating. |

I seen a vest the other day that Larry Paris built looked like a bay vest but was in a picture so it was hard to really tell that had holes i believe to b burned in it to allow air to flow through and to let water out. I know by no means does that mean is it as cool as running no vest but has anybody tryed one or done that and seen it make a difference on how hot the dogs get in it? |

When I ran pits and AB's never owned a cut vest or collar. They ran as they were, and only lost 1 to a hog. A so called buddies "catch dogs" did a u turn in the field and he went in on his own. Vest or not he would have been killed as the hog slammed him into a concrete water trough an broke his ribs. Never cut him. I never ran less then two sure nuff catchdogs at that time and seen many a pit or AB die from a vest and heat stroke.
Now I run DOGOs and they all have either a vest or will soon have a plate. No issues with them so far.
