Ok, in my last thread about my yard rearrangement regarding my dogs I posted about having a litter on the way, anyhow she dropped 7 pups a week ago, well I bred another gyp around the same time that I honestly did not believe took...ends up she did and she dropped her pups friday evening. Both the mother and father of these pups come out of a tight line of yella dogs from the southeast texas area and have been bred very tight (possibly too tight  Shocked)...........anyhow I put my eyes on the pups for the first time and 4 of them came out looking like your everyday normal ybmc EXCEPT everywhere that they should be black they are not, they are "blue" by dog world standards but not dark blue like you would see in the bulldog world, its a lighter color, dang near slate grey...........never seen anything like this in this line of dogs but I know for 100% sure that no other males got to her so i'm kinda at a loss. Huh? Huh?

I have been told from a few older gentlemen that this happens when dogs are bred extremely tight over generations. also I have seen yella dogs this color in the past, joshstokley has one that came out of some dogs from northeast texas that I believe would fit the bill as far as the tight line breeding theory goes but I have never seen or had one come out of this particular line of dogs. Anyone have any info regarding this???

I will post up a pic shortly for ya'll to see what im talknig about. I don't have any good pics, we snapped one quick one when we were moving them from her normal dog house to a bigger dog house in our puppy yard......they are all healthy with no issues that I can see as of now

Blue is a dilution of black. Most of the BMC's I see that come with the blue tint have black or black and tan dogs in the bloodline somewhere. In the case of my dogs, some of the foundation dogs were black Woodruff dogs. Inbreeding makes it crop up more. I guess they can't make up their mind what color to be.

bigo, didn't josh get his "smurf" dog from you or someone with dogs closely related to yours? Appreciate the info. I know that 4 generations back there was a plott used as an outcross on the sires side of these dogs but that is the last dog that I know of bred into them that wasnt a yella dog. Whatever the case, she went and threw a pile of em.......after talking to the man that I got her from I was reminded that a male cousin to this gyp (who is also an uncle to the sire) threw 2 blue masked pups a couple years ago when bred to an unrelated gyp so I guess it is not too strange for this line, I had forgotten about those pups when I posted earlier, apparently there is something coming out of the wood pile from somewhere in the  past...... may never know I reckon.

Hell Halfbreed, you know if they bred Plott in those dogs, they have to have some catahoula in them. They can breed  all the Yaller in them they want, they will never get rid of the plott. lol That is why so many YMBC come brindle. haha

If the truth be known, every line or color has had a little something added. People just can't resist putting a little this and that in them to come up with the new and improved. I always held my breath when I went to look at a new litter, until I made sure there wasn't any spotted ones in the bunch.  Grin

the  plotts come in blue and blue brindle as well...I can see adding some good plott to any hunting breed or cow dog breed if colder nose, bottom or hunt is needed...

Justin...one of those pups appears to have that chocolate red in the face...which is pretty normal for some lines of yellow dogs to have...those usually come with a tan or pink nose...

yes sir, I had a registered female out of the carnathan line, she was a liver color around the mouth and had a pink nose. She was a good dog to.

Reuben, 2, possibly 3 have that reddish/pink nose. The sires uncle was, well, actually still is a big yella pale faced curr dog with a pink nose, that could quite possibly be where the pink comes from........

I wish I could type out the actual lines coming down from both sides of these pups but I would never be able to explain how they are all related without confusing the heck out of everyone including myself lol. I'll just say this, the sires side and the dams side have ALOT of the same relatives back down the line with 1 or 2 outcrosses along the way to keep enough fresh blood in em to keep em going. Who knows where it all came from, the most important thing will be seeing if they are worth a dang or not hahaha, time will tell!
