We have a 8 year old female cur/walker hound whose hunted all her life with us, produced 3 litters of working dog and we still take her. She used to range really far which would lead to some long nights trying to get her back, but she's quit that as she has got older. She'll find hogs with our younger dogs, but not near as gritty about it.
It might take her all week to recover, and sometimes she needs a boost in to the box, but we'll keep taking her as long as she wants to go.
