Me and a friend are looking at building a trailer since we have to have something this year to show in Houston livestock show at the Ag Mech show. Thinking a 12-16 ft bumper pull with dog boxes and hog pen And possibly room to park a mule over the top of it all. Everything will be welded and fabricated by Us. My question is if any of you have something like this. How much did it cost you to build, and what materials did you use? We will be building trailer, boxes, everything. Only thing we can buy is axles, wheels, and tongue. I'd like to see some pictures of yalls just to get other ideas. I have a nice image in my head but I'm not sure if it's feasible. Thanks for any help/suggestions ahead of time

When i built my 5x12, i used 2x2 1/8" angle, 2 3/8" drill pipe for top rail and bottom tq tube that i welded my hitch to, treated 2x6s and 3/32" plate steel and 1x1 angle for the box with cattle panel dividers. The box was strong enough to load my grizz 700 on top, but it wasnt long enough and just barely wide enough. I i have an 8x5 area that i used to hold an old cattle pannel hog trap untill i built by pig waggon. It was lite enough i could pull it with my grizz with no issues. The boxes are 2' tall, 2' deep and 2.5' wide with 2 lights in the front 2 boxes that lights up all 4 boxes good enough.  If i had it to do over again, i would use thicker 2x2 and 1x1 angle, expanded steel instead of pannel, would have made it longer (16-18') and wider (6') and 3/16" plate steel where i could either side load or rear load a wheeler if i wanted to use the rest of the trailer for nothing but a hold pen for caught hogs. The issue with a hog box is, it needs to be tall enough (36-40") tall, which makes loading wheeler and especially utv a little more difficult due to the steep angle of the loading ramps if using commercial purchased ramps. Building ramp strong and long enough to support and lessen the approach/climb angle will make the ramps extremely heavy when it comes to pinning them in place each time to load/unload the u/atv and hogs.
Instead of building rails on the side like i did of a stanard pipe trailer, leave it open for potential side loading hogs and build divider gates in the hog box so you can load a hog, unhobble it and then release it into the main holding box. The best trailer i would make my next build off of would be a bumper pull car hauler trailer. Its open all around. I would also put a 1500-2000# elec winch on it and a loading ramp for big hogs that can be pulled into the unhobbling hole. When i built my pig waggon, i had a guilatine gate on the back and a side door up front. After using it on a tourny, i found out i should have put a seperating gate to untie/hobble hogs, which i eventually did. IF you choose to put a seperate cell for unhobbleing hogs, make it big enough to get the whole pig in there and turn it around, but small enough it doesnt have room to thrash around while untieing it.

Why should I trade one tyrant three thousand miles away for three thousand tyrants one mile away? An elected legislature can trample a man's rights as easily as a king can!
