Went the last weekend in August, cut the dogs loose and they rolled out. Acted like they were on something and then boom, they go 900 and we jump in the truck head to them and they go up on a big bluff. See something coming and it's an elk. Sure enough trashy buggers hot on him. We persuaded them otherwise and picked them up. Normally I'm riding a horse but they tell me we. An drive right to them. Famous last words. Driving to another spot and these young dogs open in back of the truck. Cut them loose they go 250 and bay. Some of the guys head to them with the bulldogs. I went to park truck off the road. Head to them and hear them squealing. Caught a small shoat. Get him shut up and bulldog catches a big boar. Another one knocks him off and he catches him. Gets knocked off that one and they break, 10 or 12 in the bunch. Several over 200. Catch a spotted sow.
I had a pup that was his first time in the woods, him and another pup go .76 and bay. Dogs are hot and out of shape get them some water and bay a nice hog. Get him and head to pups, by now they've been bayed for 45 minutes.  2 kids that were hanging tree stands watched them but there were 2 and they gave pups the slip proud of them and my other young dog. Really proud striking out of the truck. Good hunt. Trying to get young dogs going after losing my good dog a while back. Photobucket quit me I'll try to load more pictures later. Thanks for listening to the ramble.

I'm in Oklahoma, we saw about 45 that morning. Several nice bulls and a bunch of cows and babies. I know they trashed but that was their first elk and I'd rather have some young dogs that will roll on out and hunt and be a little trashy than a "straight" pup that won't get out from under you. Should have added I probably walked 4 or 5 miles that day. Got in the shower Saturday night and my ankles were burning. Blisters the size of half dollars on both inside ankles. Them boots were made for riding, not walking.  laugh Grin
I'll try a picture of the boar.            I'm probably the worst photographer ever.

Nice hogs !

That's the scariest picture of a hog I've ever seen !! Haha

It looks like a ware wolf from the movie " silver bullet."

Thanks, Judge. Chris H. I thought he looked like a bear with that cinnamon nose. Just had inch and a half or two inch teeth but he sent one to the vet. Me and my buddies been getting some visits in at the vets office. I think it's cause we had so much rain and a good summer the underbrush is thicker than it has been in 10 years. Dogs can't back up fast enough. Acorns are huge and plentiful. Might change up some people deer and hog hunting. We just trying to tune young dogs and do a little culling before we have to slow down for deer season. Best of luck to all of you.
