I don't have Beagle in my dogs but I've seen some beagle crosses that have made outstanding dogs.  A couple years ago I used my neighbors house beagle to train my pups.  I would hear that trashy little beagle running something around the farm and I would send my pups to her.  I sure hope the hunting in your 1/4 beagle comes out; that could be an awesome combination.  If that dogs really work out, I would be trying to find another beagle cross to breed to down the road.
