Quick question. Seems like everywhere I ask, I get a different answer, but:

How long is it safe for the bitch dog and the puppies to hunt after you've bred her?

Depends on how important those puppies she is carrying are to you.
If they are important then not till she is weined.
If not at all then the next day.

I think its good for them to hunt until they start to show. Especially if they are already used to it and in shape for it. .02

when i breed a female i breed her for a reason as soon as she bred i quit hunting them and start feeding the hell out of them i like them to be as healthy as they can before havin pups if you hunt her you take a risk on stressing an loosing the pups or getin her killed but its like txmaverick said how important are they to you if i breed a female they are very important to me jus my 5 cents  Wink

You should give her at least 6 weeks after birth.  I wait until her milk dries up after weening. There isnt much worse than having to sew up her tits when they get torn up. Plus then she will hert bad when the pups suck.

if i PLAN a breeding i will not hunt that dog from the time she comes in heat till after the pups are weaned and she starts drying up,
like others have said if those pups are worth the time of planning a breeding and going thru all the trouble to get ,, then dont take a chance of getting them knocked out of her or getting her killed...
