My father-in-law gave me his Rem. Model 788 in 22-250 the other day. I'm stoked, I've wanted one since the late 60's but never had one. Not a great scope on it but dang it I'm still tickled. Time to put the shootin bench up.

Nice deal my friend they are a good gun I have the 581 and the 582 which are the version in 22. If it's a old tv screen scope it could be worth some money as a collectable

iv got one of those in 243 and had 1 in 223. the 223 one came up missing one day out of my tck from under the seat. it couldn't be seen, so it was someone who knew it rode there, one of them so called "friends" we all have/had. both the guns are fine shooting, so i have no doubt that 22-250 will perform within your expectations. it should be a groundhog/prarie dog killing sumgun.

That 22-250 is a bad a$$ round! I have shot a lot of different guns and calibers and my CZ 550 chambered in 22-250 is by far my favorite. Congrats!!

I bought my wife a Remington 754 classic in the 22-250 and it has killed more deer than my 7 mag...it is deadly and my favorite and it isn't mine...

That is a great gift Joel...

I guess that's good that he decided to give it to you. Guess that means he's decided not to use it on you! Just hope he didn't decide to use something larger!!

WoW, if you wanna replace the scope, iv got a leupold vx-11 3x9x50 with a 25mm tube id sell you if your interested. Its a duplex recticle with a 2 mil dot bdc. Iv got it on my rem 22 lr and its really to much scope for that 22. After i got it sighted in, i propped up on the door frame and was aiming at a sprinkler tube (1.5" tube" at 100yds. Didnt think i would hit it, but dang if i didnt, 3x in a row. I guess i had some decent factory loads and then had to buy a new sprinkler. I had the scope on my M40 A1, but wanted full mil dots, so i saved and bought leupold M1 tac 4.5x12x50. Before replacing the scope, i took it the pow range here at ft hood, zeroed at 100yds with 168gr bthp bh match. I shot a spotter round and attempted for the same spot, hoping to hold at least the 1/2" MoA the weapon was advertised to hold. 3 rnds later i was pissed, thinking i missed ea time, figured i was shooting ovr the target. The guy spotting kept saying hit. I figured he was looking at the wrong target (the guy 2 lanes down). The range went cold, we walked down and sure enough, i hit all 3 shots, cutting the hole of my spotter round. I figured it was a fluke, and bet an 18pk of beer i couldnt do it again. I ended up having to buy the beer. I shot a spotter round and followed up with 3 more, cutting the spotter hole. So, the scope is good for it and will hold sub 1/2" MoA, along with the rifle. Pm me for your price if your interested
