Forgive me if this thread is a duplicate. I am interested in the Jagd Terrier breed. My question is, who is actively hunting with Jagd terriers and how are they working for you? I am only interested in hearing from the folks that have them in there pack and would like actual insight  how you a working the dogs? Casting, road hunt, etc.... I hunt areas with shoulder height restrictions in Florida and would like to cut down on the feed bill, lol. I currently use cracker curs and hounds crosses and never had to have a bulldog due to really rough curs. Any information would be great or could you direct me please. Thanks.

I have a jagd that ive got a few months ago hes the best dog ive ever had. I hunted him last night he struck a hog a mile an a half away. It was a 75 lbs hog but he was caught with my buddys dog. This dog is always moving never stops has only trashed one time on a skunk but hey hes a gamey jagd . He will cast out but is never consistent on how far but what ever it is hes hunting it hard. I just recently picked up a jagd gyp to breed to him ive been told shes gamey, and hunts hard as well only bad thing  is she my trailbark. All in all these dogs are great hunters but u my need a shock collar to break them off stuff or get there attention cause this are smart little guys.

I'm not a jag veteran but we use to hunt them. I got some halves now. I liked the smooth coated ones the best and we road hunted ours. They hunted how they wanted though. A little trashy on armadillos and most I have seen don't stick under your feet . Their usually all wired up to go hunting. Their aggravating especially in the pen. If you want them loose put them on bigger hogs to start out with that they can't catch and that seems to help, if you want them ruff just put them in the pen with another gritty dog and a hog a few times and it's on. The worst thing about them that I have seen is just when one starts getting good it usually gets killed they can't take a cutting, when they get cut its usualy almost in half. They have good noses and can keep up with cur dogs where i hunt. I'm sure water would slow them down. I liked the Dixie land bred jags better than any i ever seen. A man named Scott als had them

The best dogs I have ever had the pleasure to hunt with were half jags, if you get a good one their a lot of fun to hunt with

Bo, thanks for the response. Just curious what are you crossing them with?
