Muletape

I have been looking into using mule taps to tie hogs with because it looks cheaper and like less hassle then regular hobbles. But I have no clue on how to tie hogs with it? Is it like tying calves down? Or is there a different method to it?

Ohh anyone lookin for mule tape .. Guys pulling cable underground on the side of the road will gladly give you used Mule tape for a 12 pack of their  favorite beer !! Especially on Fridays !

I dont own a set of hobbles I use it and it has came in handy in alot of different way trying hogs dog leashes pulling broke down fourwheelers out and more old friend gave me a hole role yrs ago and I still have more than half a role

I can't stand using store bought hobbles always to much headache, mule tape is the way to go .

Tried hobbles once and gave them away. Have always used muletape. Got a whole roll of 1/2" 1250lb test that I've been using for 2 years. Made it through about half a roll so far. I try to reuse the same pieces of rope as many times as I can.

Buy you a few sets of handcuffs as well. They are the fastest and easiest way to handle big hogs.

Smith and Wesson cuffs are the best I've tried.

I could but it doesn't really show how to tie a hog with Muletape the rope one shows its though

I use hobbles and while I am walking into the bay, I make sure the loops are formed so I am ready when I get there.  If you are well prepared, the hobbles should work right.

I have and do use muletape also.  I think the one advantage is, you can use it on any size hog.  It is kind of frustrating when pre made hobbles are too small or too big.

To tie a hog is very easy as long as you done it few times the first few will be tricky. When you figure how to position your self on the hog it becomes easier. Just take a peace  bout arms length double it go over the leg then pull the tail end thru moving on to the second leg should be the opposite the other take the tail end go over the leg pull tight then take the tails come up splitting one left on right suck the legs close together then tie a square knott over the top. Make sure you always go over not under. I take the tails of the knot and tie to the opposite leg just one is needed.

I use two pieces of mule tape, about 5' long and tie like Judge described. I cross tie front leg to back leg... that's the only way I've ever done it.

I never liked mule tape til last year I hunted with a guy from lousaiana. He handed me
A piece of mule tape and said here tie. He had 2 pieces tied. Each piece formed a loop about 18 inches across and you can hang 2 around your neck while walking to a bay. You use one loop to tie two legs togethor like some home made hobbles. Just make a slip loop and stick a leg in it and make another slip loop and stick the opposite leg in it. It's hard to explain in writing but it's easy to do by your self
