Kabar USMC Survival knife...the backbone of the knife is a little too thick for slicing meat...but the weight has been taken out with the drop bowie point that I keep sharped razor sharp as part of the double edge I like. Also, the blade has a blood groove which takes out more weight yet it has a sturdy frame...I have had mine for almost 30 years...back when I was young I would stick a pig deep in the woods and would cut a 2" sapling and tie a gutted hog to it and that knife did it all...back then an old retired professor that was also a Marine in WW2 told me to get one and so I did...I can't brag enough about that knife...it is carbon steel so it has to be oiled and taken care of...that knife is like a favorite dog or gun to me...

Haha idk. His brother still has him by a long shot, but the boy is getting pretty handy at it. Got out of dogs and spent 3x the amount he ever would have on dogs in tools for knife making. He's Working on a knife for a charity auction put on by "Go Texan" I believe right now. Anybody know anyone who does good leather work?

sure some nice knives there fellas. chris, i was given the cold steele knife like yours but engraved  blade as a retirement gift  from my job. ive never used it as ive been using a long bladed knife my dad made me from a file close to 40 years ago. i at times also use my kabar and a big buck knife. i am most likely retireing the one my dad made me so i can give it to my grandson  whos 7 now. means alot to me as dads now 90.
