Myself and two buddies decided to make a run this mornin since we all got rained out at work, figured we could hit a few high ground spots on our lease and find a hog after all the rain we've had. I turned my slick dog and a puppy loose down a pipeline that intersects with the bayou and slick lined out a big blonde boar hog in his bed on a nice open ridge in some planted pines, my buddy had 2 dogs on the ground when mine sounded off so we waited on them to join in then cut the distance from 600yds to just under a 100 and eased in with the bulldog. We knew immediately it was a dang good hog as all 4 dogs were backed up bayin, we got to 15yds, got a good look at the hog and wished the bulldog luck, the bulldog got knocked off on his first try and him as well as my slick dog payed for it....... the bulldog hung him on his second try and we got him rolled pretty quick, i took off with the bulldog to get back to the cut kit on the buggy to doctor him up as he was leakin pretty bad. We managed to get him plugged up and get the hog outta the woods. I started lookin over my dogs and realized that slick looked like he got in a brawl with freddy kruger so off to the house we went. An hour and 60+ staples later on nothing but skin cuts he got to lay down, it could have been terrible but luck was on his side today (thank the Lord). Luckily both dogs will get to hunt another day after some time on the DL. Both of my buddies each lost a good dog a week apart real close to where we caught this hog, i doubt he was the culprit but hell ya never know. Anyhow we got the best of him today, he's a bit lighter on his south end now, hopefully we will see him again come deer season. He weighed 220lbs on the nose.

Good boar at 220. By the looks of his feet, I am guess that if I saw that track, I would guess he would be bigger. He has some sure enough good hoofs on him.
I know a few Cajuns around here that would have loved to throw his feet and lower leg into a crawfish pot. LOL

Thanks guys, appreciate it. Both dogs were up and movin around fine today, a week or two and they will be back in business. We all said the same regarding his hooves, he was packin some pretty good ones, if i would have seen the tracks i would have guessed him bigger than he was too. Hopefully we will run into him a year or two down the road
