This weekend has been great for me and mine. It was my lil girls birthday and she wanted to go to the bay pen so we went to Earle's. Talked to a lot of folks I know and put some faces with some names. Watched some dogs bay and headed home.

We had planned to run dogs this morning. Guy I work with was gonna join us. He was suppose to be here at 7:30. No show. We didn't get in till midnight last night and the wife and lil girl didn't want to turn loose the bed. Finally about 12 we get headed to the woods. We have 3 adult dogs and 2 year old pups on their 3rd hunt in the woods. We get the dogs ready and ride into a block of woods. We are riding into the wind and every dog starts whining in the box. Stop cut em loose and in seconds they are bayed solid at 185. Wife and I grab Bulldogs and start getting closer. The closer we get the louder it gets. We walk in and it's a big sounder. Probly the most I have ever bayed at once. Send the Bulldogs and of course instead of grabbing the big boar they snatch the first pig that they get to. Bay breaks dogs scatter. One falls bayed at 550. Go out work around get to 200 the other dogs are now with the first bayed. Walk a cd in cut loose #2 falls. Break the cd off and 60 yards #3 is bayed. Cut cd to em #3 falls. Break him off and #4 is bayed at 130. Send both CD and #4 falls. Luckily at this point I'm only 10 yards off the road. Walk dogs out back to wheeler. Load up and the owner rides up. He has seen another hog up the road. Ride that way let dogs out and they mill around. Then at 150 my 1yr old pup opens. Old dogs head to him. Dogs go a quarter bay. We try to get closer and hog breaks. Right back toward where it started. Dogs sit down hammering. We ease around corner and can see hog bayed in edge of field. Nice size hog and the dogs are working it great. Send both CD at 150. Watch them all the way in. They latch on and I'm not far behind. #5 done.

I could not ask for a better weekend or day. The dogs did excellent. 1 of my pups struck his first  pig ever. CD's got a work out and did great. My wife was able to make it into 4 of the bay's. Which is a big deal to us after the last year. My now 5 year old got to be right there on the last one.

God is good folks and days like today sure make you thankful. I do love running these dogs. Having my family by my side makes it even better.

Rufus and my lil girl with his first strike. Bout a 225 sow.

That is great. Very happy for you. Some of the best hunts you don't catch them all, but when you're in them the whole time it makes up for it. Congrats on the pups.

That sounds like a great weekend all the way around. Always nice when a young dog starts putting it together.

My Ol dillo dogs get lucky now and then. I sure do enjoy those spurts of luck. Lol. When you couple that with the rest all I can do is smile. I have 3 hunts burned in my mind. This is now one of them. I don't have the finest dogs but I do have mine. When that pup struck by himself my wife jumped up and down. He was her pick of the litter. This was his 3rd time in the woods with only 2 hogs caught in front of him prior. He is 1 of a litter of 11 I posted pics of on here a year ago. He is 3/4 YBMC 1/4 redbone. He is 15 month old. I am one very happy guy today. Still riding the wave.

Nice! Congrats man!!
I don't comment much on achievements and such, though I do enjoy the stories and accomplishments of the folks that post them.
I just find it hard to keep up checking in from time to time and if one comments on another's post but not the others folks seem to get butthurt sometimes so I choose to stay out of it. Not that I don't celebrate them all with the posters....
But, I really got a soft spot for kids hunting with their parents and recall y'all's recent trials in life....
Just want to say congrats as it is well deserved and the story touched me all way around!
Good, damn, stuff right there!!!!

Thank all y'all for the comments. I don't think it gets much better than family and dogs. I enjoy going with others sure but I enjoy when we as a family go with friends even more. The hunting becomes a bonding factor not a division.

Thank again glad y'all enjoyed the story.
