Kai's brother in law came to town and wanted to some Texas hogs! Kai has been telling him about our good luck and pretty easy hunts we've been having... well it wasn't easy this time. Robert, Kai and Austin met me at the ranch yesterday morning and I was sure we'd be in hogs pretty quick. Well, 5 hours later, many miles and many acres covered... nada. My three dogs and Robert's Spook dog were wore out. Luckily, Robert had another set in the box. We turned his fresh dogs out after noon and around 1:00 the old man, Obama, found us a hog. He took them on a 2 mile sprint, but Obama, Reba and Fancy put the "whoa" on him before he crossed the big creek.

Colby joined us for a "quick hunt" this morning on another place. Same story... took us 3 1/2 hours to find a hog. My Jase dog made me proud this morning, covering lots of flooded timber and getting bayed. We ended up with a 60 lb sow and called it a day... dang mosquitos liked to carry us off! I'm glad Austin got to catch a couple.

Isn't that how it always works out? My last trip to the big island was supposed to be a slam dunk, cake walk. 9 hours of walking later, we got our hands on one. Then another three hours walking out, still beats a sharp stick in he eye.

My friend has the dogs and the places to go, he and his dad know a lot of people. They've been in the game for years, so I just put my faith in them and feel lucky to be able to go with them. I lost touch with the guys n Oahu I used to hunt with, I got a few calls to make before August.
