with football season taking up all my time i haven't been able to hunt, but we are off tomorrow so i took my dogs out. my two have been laid up for about a month to two months. haven't seen a hog in at least 3 to 4. when i dropped them they were GONE! i thought that they would only road, but tonite they made me real proud. we started out roading, only five minutes or so. they were winding and checking both sides of the road i mean they were really hunting. it was real muddy where i was so i couldn't take my truck, so i had to walk. i figured they would be up my butt, man did they prove me wrong.
i laid out some corn in several spots earlier today hoping to get the hogs in the area. i cut out around 10 or so. we walked for a bit and they got real hoggy. checking the wind and getting out and STAYING out. went down one area that i baited no luck and as we were coming back they took off again. 2 min later my dogo/bmc crossed opened up, right after that my bmc opened up. i waited and i heard the grunting. my dogoX tried to catch but no dice. i couldn't see the hog so i don't know how big. what really impressed me was that my bmc tracked that joker for about 20min after it broke. i heard her open up a couple times when she got close but she finally came back to me.
we went to another spot and we struck again, this time my bmc opening up. the dogoX didn't get there in time to help her out, so it broke as well. we walked a little while longer and i called it a night.
i didn't get to stick one but man was i proud of my pups. kopa the dogoX was bred by ushog and sunny the bmc was bred by elliscounty(james davis/sweeny lines). guys your blood is good. kopa seems to be the better winder but sunny is the one that lines out the tracks better. sunny also showed a lot of stay when she gets on a good hot track. sunny is around a 1.5yrs and kopa will be a year sometime here in oct. ushog and elliscounty thanx for giving me the opportunity to get these two dogs. they are definantly keepers.

yeah it really was great to see them line out some tracks. i forgot to say that this was the first time they found a hog by themselves in the woods. they've been on hogs before in the woods but usually another older dog struck first and they were more help dogs than anything. this was the first and second time that they trusted their noses and used their brains to work a track and find a hog or two...what's crazy is that i don't get a chance to really work them the way i would like and they showed a lot of natrual ability. just using their instincts..i attribute that to great breeding...thanx again ushog and elliscounty...only down fall to the story is that i have my brother's pit at my house and elected to keep her at the house...you know what they say..hindsight is 20/20..i feeling very confident that if i had pearl(the pit)we would have caught and stuck that first hog..none the less i was very very proud of my pups..it's only up from here

Glad your dogs are doing good. that would have been really sweet if you brought pearl and caught that hog.
