which would you pick and why, some people i've heard talk down the 40's and some like them, would dc50 be a better option. Looked around but couldn't find any recent info on them.

I would rather have 30's than 40's any day of the week. The 50's would last a season and somethings wrong with them. The 30's just kept ticking for me, i have an alpha now, i hope these collars last a little longer

all the dc 30 collars i had went bad from getting wet,never did like them...i have had great luck and performance with the dc 40 w/ long range antenna.the biggest differnce is that you have an option to use the lock out code for your signal on the dc 40 so no one can track your dog unless they have your code.same with all newer collars i believe

thanks, I was looking at some used 30's and 40's, they wanting the same money so I was wondering which might give me the best performance

Yes I like the pin feature on the newer collars except for the night I somehow locked my self out of my best dogs collar while she was 4 miles away running a pig. That wasn't cool lol.
