Just like the title says...we've all saw countless hog mounts on the board cuz everyone wants a big ol' toothed hog on the wall, but let's see a hog or two y'all regret not getting mounted. You know the hunts or pictures you look back on and say, Dang I wish he was on my wall right now. Hopefully we can see some dang good hogs on here, figured it was different and I like looking at big hogs!

This hog was a big boar hog we caught one morning. Great color, huge, way over 300, and good teeth. He broke one off in my red dog and gutted him, and like to cost me the best dog I've ever owned. We ended up barring him even with all that cuz I'm committed to big Barr hogs! My buddy ended up catching him two years later and he was 400 but his teeth was worn down. Very rare occasion where him as a boar was a better hog then him as a Barr.

Here's a "Rig Hog" we caught a long time ago, guess him having one but affected his teeth growth cuz he had a mouthful. We honestly thought he was a Barr for about the first 20 mins. He ended up stressing out and dying but at about 230-240 he was the right size for a great looking mount, he was just black!

Only hog I had intentions of mounting after we loaded him I had to haul ass to the vet and never seen him again didn't have time to argue over the hog. But my doc dog found and bayed him my gyp and my buddies dog went two him and mine and my buddies catch dogs caught him. The boy the carried us to the place dogs never left. But they took the hog cause I had to go and I never seen him again

That's a sad story boarboy!
There's been a couple I shot rifle hunting when I was younger, one was about 350 and had bling highlights like the one in BA-IVs pic and I wanted a black hog to mount so I didn't mount him, the other was a 300 pound black boar perfect in every way except he had one busted off cutter, the good side was about 3.5 inches, I shoulda mounted him, that was 20 years ago, I still haven't mounted one lol

I can't post pics on here but I've caught a lot of big toothy boars that would have made good mounts.   One was a black and white boar I got with a friend and had the best teeth I've ever seen personally.  Figured the boar around 400 lbs.   About a month later I was with a buddy down south and we caught a boar that weighed 446 and he was deffenitly smaller than the big boar I'd caught a month earlier.       I was gonna cape that big sucker but I hate summer capes.  Caught several others that walked over the scales around the 300# mark with some great teeth and good color.  Shot some back in the day with rifle and bow that were beasts but usually all summer coats.
Was talking to the taxidermist a couple weeks ago about hog mounts when I went to pick up my elk.  I told him my sob story.  He told me no reason for that.  Just bring him a good cape.  One that's unusual and with good color from a good size pig.  Said teeth are fake anyway all he needs is an awsome looking cape to make a great mount.        Crap I said! I caught a blue boar this winter that had black trim, he was pretty neat looking just didn't have big teeth yet.       Couple days ago the dogs got a big 280ish pound sow and I got me a good cape.  Mostly black head with a big white blaze face, white trim on the ears, good long thick hair,  tall gard hair running down her neck and back,  one side of the mount will be mostly white and the other will be mostly black.   Getting real teeth wouldn't be a problem anyway I guess.  I got a stock pile of them I could have robbed.
Anyway I didn't know that about the cape and lack of good teeth.   I'd been waiting for it to all come together

I would have gotten this one mounted if he had his winter coat and bigger teeth...

I'm still waiting on a black and red spotted hog, 300 plus with 3" or better teeth.

Hermaphrodite sow with 6.5" whetted and 4.5" bottoms. 280 gutted. The landowner supposedly did a full body mount. Will try to find pics if he did

This is the one for me. I only had 1 dog in on the catch. He had cut up most of my dogs a couple months prior. My best dog was still down and my dogs were rough. We tried a different tactic taking 2 loose dogs and leaving mine at home. My buddies dogs bayed him and his CD did the lions share of the work. Met the hog middle ways of a thicket and my buddy pumped 3 rounds from a 30-30 in him. I waited to see if he was gonna mount him and he said no. I asked for the skull. I swore the day he cut my dogs down his head would be on my mantle.

I didn't lie.

This hog gutted my bulldog Titus and cut him bad a dozen other places my Black dog had him bayed and Titus hung him.I never kill hogs unless required but he had around 4" of perfect teeth and a really neat color pattern so I stuck him.Took Titus to the vet and when I returned the property owner had him hanging in a tree at the house about a mile from where I caught him his mouth was full of mudd. When I washed it out about an inch and a half of his teeth were broke off.He had drug him by his back legs behind the4 wheeler all the way out and I had to smile and say thank you lol

We have caught quite a few over the years that in my opinion were mount worthy we just never got around to messing em for the most part honestly. I am like mike I guess when it comes to mounting a hog, I want either a big red and black hog OR a big white spotted hog to mount, I like a black hog as much as the next person but if I am going to pay to have one mounted I want some color. We caught 1 particular hog years ago that I took the time to cape out for a mount, he was a big 300+ lb blonde spotted boar hog with 4" + cutters on both sides. We put him in the deep freeze to bring to the taxi when we had the time.........about a month later hurricane ike rolled through and decided we didnt need to mount that hog..........had to throw out the whole deep freeze, it was a different kinda fonk lol. I had pictures of that hog for quite a long time and I swore I had posted it on here but Ive looked and looked for the pictures and cant find em now.

For those that remember this lol, it was the same hog that I posted the story about a couple yers back about a kid in sour lake that walked up to my truck and showed me a picture (that I had taken)  sayin that him and his buddies had just caught the hog the day before lol, Hell the damn picture had 2 of my dogs in it  Grin me and my buddy still laugh about that one to this day.

I guess this would be the one for me in the last ten years or so, there's some before that but we didn't start taking pictures until then.
