On their website, they have several classifications of devices, one category was "falconry".  Wonder if this system is for the "birds"?

I looked on their site and couldn't find anything then I looked back at this picture and read the small print on the side of the collar itself "prototype 1" so I would imagine this is still in the works and we probably wont see it on the market any time soon.

Yah dang it's for falcon people ... They're saying they've got something in the works tho for hounds men and bird dog people

It'd have to be pretty good to get people to leave their garmins

Didn't even know there was a market for Falconers who run pointers? That is pretty cool sounding though.

So the falcon waits for the dog to point and then grabs whatever he's pointing? That sounds like a deadly combination!!!

In my opinion marshall makes the best radio telemetry collars but they are going to be hard pressed to be able to outdo the funding and technology that garmin has.

Lifelweapon it look like they turn the dogs loose .. Dog goes on point , they send a falcon in for the kill , then dog rolls out agin while they call back in the falcon .

All I gotta say about it is it would take a helluva animal trainer to get all that together

Also it looks like they do it for the same reasons you would hunt hogs on crop land for

I know a guy that does falconry.  He sends up the bird to a tree on the edge of a field and then walks around trying to kick up a rabbit or whatever he can beat out of the bushes. The bird will get it and he will go to the bird with meat and trade out...... Something along those lines. He's wanted me to go with him for a while now but I never have. Sounds interesting though.  He has lost several birds though. He says it's always a gamble when you turn one loose. They may or may not come back ...

Funny you say that i saw a Larry the cable guy episode where he went on a falcon hunt and the owner of the falcon was about to turn one loose for the first time .. Larry bet him it wouldn't come back and Larry won ., haha that falcon guy looked some kind of pissed !!

That is legit! Those are beautiful pointers, and I liked how they used the Jack Russel in the vid to flush things out.

They use falcons right here by me in the land fill sites to scare away the sea gulls. I've seen them do it and as soon as they let that hawk go those gulls are no where to be found within minutes.

If they could train the Falcons to go after HoodRats, I would pay to watch that.
