Was at sonic this evening and a suv pulled up next to me and there was a Dalmatian just hanging out in the back seat with both windows down. He was a good looking dog build wise I thought. Had good leg and definitely had some energy in that back seat. Made me wonder if anyone has ever tried to hunt one. I know nothing another the breed other than they're white with black spots. Lol

Yes sir Mr.Parker, I've heard they've got a reputation for turning on their owners... Just thought it was kinda a crazy cause I rarely see someone with a Dalmatian. Maybe if a ever have $1,000 fall in my lap I'll buy a pup and try him out

Well historically they were a real rough dog. Sort of a guard dog that would attack as well. They were Coach Dogs meant to run alongside your wagon and if brigands tried to rob you the dogs would attack their horses. So, lots of stamina/bottom to keep up. But I don't know that they've ever been used to hunt so I think instinct would be minimal in them. One thing I found out is blue heelers have dalmatian in their bloodlines. They started with wild dingos and a couple herding breeds, but they were wild and standoffish but worked stock good. They bred in dalmation to give them attachment to people. I found that out because I just took a half heeler half dalmation pup a couple months ago. So far, you wouldnt know she was anything but heeler. Makes me wonder if she just takes heavily after her Sire or if the dalmation blood already in the breed kind of cancels out the cross all together and just makes another heeler.

Another thing I've heard a few times is they are a one owner dog. You either keep them or put them down because they'll never take another master. My brother had a dalmation years ago and thats what he ran into. I wonder if the reputation for biting has something to do with that. I know some heelers thats kind of that way. Hates everybody in the world except one or two people but they'd do anything for those few.

When my son was in HS he went over to a friends house to study. They had a dalmatian and it attacked my son without provocation. He is big and was able to knock the dog down but it was jumping for his throat.
Here is the way the deal works. If you get dog bit in the city you call the police and if in the county the sheriff. So I call the sheriffs office to report it and make sure the dog is quarantined for the time specified. I mentioned that it seemed unusual that the dog was a dalmatian. The sheriff told me not so and they were at the top of the list for biting people. Most of the time it is their owners and if they ever start they don't stop.
The owners of the dog could not believe it bit my son and did not put it down. It was not long and it attacked again, this time much worse, and it was put down.
Dalmatians are not bred to do anything other than have spots. The movie 101 dalmatians did not help either.
They are kind of like Irish Setters. People bred them for the beauty of their coat and ruined the breed. Some folks still try to run them but they are worthless. I have run against them in trials, watched them run, watched them being trained, and judged them in field trials. I have yet to see one actually point and handle a bird all in order.
My neighbor has a couple and both are idiots. I would look to something else if it were me. If you like going against the grain and crusades they are the dog for you.
