Got a new pup today she is about 6 or 7 months old I believe she is a begal cross  I'm thinking about training her to blood trail wounded animals for hunters the only problem I have is I have never trained a dog to do this was wondering if any of yall have ever done this and if someone could give me some pointers on how to go about doing this

I just discussed this with a friend of mine I was bear hunting with who raises hunting beagles, and he told me the best blood tracking dog he ever had or seen was a beagle cross. Started by just taking him to deer him and his friends shot and letting him chew on them and petting him up on them. Then he would take a little deer blood and drip out a few drops every few steps for the dog to track and every time he would start him on the track he would start with a command I think he used "find it". And he would only let him track the trail on lead, and he would put a piece of deer hide for the dog to chew on at the end of the trail.

Im sure there is more to it than that but that is how he told me he did it. He was a guide for a big part of his life and tracked a lot of deer.
