I decided to take my 2 year old pit (yard dog turned catch dog project) and two four month old pups who have never even seen a pig to my ranch just to get out in the woods and get some exercise. The ranch hadn't held pigs in months so I wasn't worried. I got near the creek bottom on the back corner and started to see an insane amount of rooting and tracks. Then I started to smell some rank pigs. The pit was on a leash and the pups were loose. The pit started trying to work a track like a hound so I cut him loose and him and the female pup took off. He doesn't bark for anything but that pup being half hound was opening every single step. They were running a pig that I never got to see but they took it about half a mile. Then they got back real close around 30 yards but in thick cedar so I caught a glimpse of the pit (who is solid black) and started calling him to me. He pops out about 10 yards in front of me, only it wasn't him. It was a big black razorback boar. The boar looked me over and took off. All I had was the one male young pup with me then so I called the dogs back to the road and we called it a day. I am ready for them to grow up cause I definitely need to get some dogs on them asap.
