Well we did not rack up numbers but we did rack up the miles. Went Sat. and Larry and I put out. Dogs trailed out and jumped. We were able to relay this hog a couple of times but dogs gave out about 3:00 due to the heat. We knew it was a good boar because of the track it left. Sunday Mike Starling and I went and turned his Plott Deacon out and my Clyde out at around 6:00. They trailed out and jumped and the race was on. At the first crossing we saw it was another good boar. Clyde and Deacon ran about 10 miles before we relayed some fresh dogs in there. A few more crossings and I told Mike this is the same hog we ran the day before as he was running the same route. Hank was putting on a show and getting ahead of everything. Even when we knew where he was going to cross and put some fresh dogs in, he would still get in the lead. Finally around 2:15 the hog bayed. Took us awhile to get in there but Lucy sealed the deal. This hog died about 5 minutes after we tied him up. Demon and Clyde averaged about 7 mph for 10 miles and the rest of the dogs averaged about 5 1/2 mph but they ran a lot longer. Any way you look at it, he covered well over 30 miles and that is not counting yesterday. I love catching these kind but wish he would have lived so I could tie him back loose. Very nice pictures !! Nice boar
We cut the tip of the tail off on a Barr hog last year we caught in the middle of summer to keep it from over heating . I'm sure you've heard of that , but it was new to me . Barr hog lived till I killed it for sausage
