After the long-needed rain we got a few weeks ago, the hogs sure have been on the prowl.  I've probably gotten ten phone calls over the past couple weeks about places that haven't had a hog sign all summer.  One guy called on Sunday who said he had fourteen hogs that were there EVERY day and he needed me to get them gone.  Further discussion revealed he only had 20 acres...sorry, but I can't help!

Two weeks ago Thursday, I caught my first barr hog.  VERY rare for these parts.  Not sure what he weighed, as two of us could not even budge him 10 feet with a rope to try and get him out of the woods so we only got out with his head (which is still in the freezer).  My personal best on the scale is 440, and although adrenaline was involved, this one appeared much heavier.

Overall, we've probably caught 25-30 in the last few weeks of all shape, size and color.

Here's a few recent pics.  (Camera date is all messed up...)

Bryant they are up and moving at our place too. Seems like a whole new group of pigs moved in and they are dog dumb. Just like I need to have them.  Grin

but like what Wmwendler said we are shutting down operations in a week or 2 just to keep the herd numbers in the green.

Granted I took some time off when I was moving and getting situated at the new place, but overall my numbers for the year are way below average.  I'd like to know where the heck these hogs have been hiding all summer.

Been an interesting year to say the least, but I guess that's what makes it fun.  Just when you think you have them patterned and figured out...

I have a place where I caught some decent numbers last year. This year, 2. Deer season comes in, hunters telling me the pigs are every where. No clue where they went all summer. Drought had a lot to do with it I guess. Rain, acorns, and "yellow acorns" have brought them back from who knows where.

Man that's a real nice haul Bryant.  This cool weather is making it seem like less work too.
