September 6th my old Kate gyp checked out on me. She tied into a stud and caught him when she had no business even trying him. Broke ribs, cut liver, and punctured diaphragm proved to be too much for her to recover from. She's very likely the best I will ever own, and have had more than one person say she was the best they'd ever seen, she was a fun one to hunt with, she caused me to be a little arrogant at times lol. I knew damn well if she was out in country with a hog somewhere around, she was gonna find him 9 times out of 10 and quite often get bayed. Before she died I luckily had one gyp pup I'd been taking with her, the pup is out of some blood I really believe in and at some point in time had shown all the potential I wanted to see but, as of September 6th I was 100% sure she wasn't ready to start going it alone. 5 days after Kate passed I decided to go take this pup I call sketch out and see just what she was gonna do. I kicked her out on some decently fresh sign, which is rare for me to find in my places. She took to hunting and making it look about as hard as hunting a hog has ever looked, she struck a group and got them to rallying and in a matter of 15-20 minutes. I had shot 3 pigs out from in front of her. Couple days later she bayed a boar hog I've got a little history with. Little ole silver boar hog that gave Kate the slip once or twice. Sketch bayed him and I decided to video rather than crawl in there and shoot him and he broke after about 5 minutes. She couldn't hang with him and lost him. She struck another time or 2 over the next few hunts and hogs decided to run and the puppy in her showed and we went home skunked. I went and made the trip to Odessa last week to pick up a yella gyp that was supposed to have potential and needed to be used. Couple days later I took her and sketch to some new country I picked up that's getting wrecked by hogs. Sketch got a little boar up and running and after 3-400 yards that yella gyp and her put the woah on him and we got him killed. I've got a long way to go yet but There's light at the end of the tunnel so it would seem.

Killed 5 with her and Sloan in about an hour and a half the other evening. She took one 860 after we broke a bay and bayed it again solo. This morning her and Sloan took a stud little over 4 miles and got him bayed and held him for over an hour until we got we got there. They aint no hog dogs yet but they'll hunt a pig
