Haven't posted in a while but been staying in the woods.I lost my Holly dog to a gator a few months ago and read Jason Dunns coments on Wines Rowdy dog and it really hit home by the way sorry for the loss Wine I understand how it is.Holly was the dog that changed my whole idea of what a hog dog is and can be she was the best I've ever been behind in my opinion She was a Fl dog and did it all she had the ability to find and stop any hog if she barked you either caught her up or you caught the hog might be tomorrow but she had zero quit. She knew just how rough to get and exactly what she could handle.I liked her so much that I totally changed my entire program to be based off her and fortunately I bred her before I lost her.I placed 4 pups with close friends and kept 3 to raise the pups are 6 months now and all showing exactly what I was hoping to see.I also ended up with Holly's sister Rye 20 months old and a related male Jake 3 yrs old. Rye made me about go bald from training her because of her incredible prey drive just like her sister but I have her lined out now and it's almost like having Holly back she reminds me a lot of her.Jake's a really good one as well but there's not a hunt that goes by that I don't miss my Holly dog.The morning she died we caught a really good boar right out the boat and she relayed off him and swam the river and didn't make it to the other side.A couple pics of Holly and the three pups I kept Lucille is the black and tan,Ginger is the one smiling and Hambone is my big red male High hopes for them.LucilleGingerHambone

Hate to hear that, gators are my number one fear during our summer months, living in southeast La is about like Florida, they are just a part of life, I try my best to hunt the timber company lands and farms during the summer months and save my swamp areas for the first part of summer and the winter, I quit hunting a place altogether on account of the two different  enormous gators I saw in an oxbow lake off the main river in one day and just about every time we get on a good hog it heads for that lake, in the exact spot I saw one of them we had caught a good Barr right on the banks the previous winter, they are becoming a big nuisance around here now and our rivers are slap full of them, if we've had a wet summer with a lot of rains the swamps will be full of water and the rivers at normal level it isn't so bad, if it's dry and the rivers are low you can just about bet your last dollar the hogs are going to head for the river and there's been several top notch dogs killed by gators with in about 10 minutes of my house, bad deal man and I always hope I don't have to experience it personally but know it's only a matter of time before my number is called....
