Recently started hunting by myself, mainly when my buddies can't go. How many hunt solo? I've found I really enjoy it. Sucks running to a bay in the swamp (Florida) when you have to swim or going waist deep alone but it's makes the adventure more exciting.

I have. I enjoy it. Not as fun as having company. But I enjoy it. I've caught one of my biggest boar hogs ever when I was alone. I learned a lot on my dogs when I was alone.

I do a fair share of my hunting alone. I enjoy it. It has made me a better hunter. It’s easier for me to remain focused and clear minded. It allows me to read sign better and help the dogs out some. It has improved the handle I have on my dogs. A Garmin Alpha , a good cut kit, and a reliable catch dog come in handy! My dogs pack together better because of it. Couple of negatives: is they don’t pack as quite well with strange dogs. It can suck if your dogs split up a lot. I typically run 2 or 3 loose bay dogs that pack together and 1 lead in catch dog this way. I don’t run the rough dogs when I’m alone. I’m not a big fan of doctoring dogs and dam sure don’t want to handle a massive wreck alone. It has made me very particular about who I hunt with. Not trying to sound like an a$$ but group hunts become a cluster#?*! A lot of times.

I agree 100%, groups hunts get overwhelming and if they have their own dogs mine seem to not want to work for me as well. Glad I'm not the only person out there.

Haven't had the time to do it lately but I used to hunt a good deal by myself, mainly young dogs, I'm picky about the places I go depending on the terrain and what not, you sure have to have faith and trust in your CD, as much as I like the group I hunt with being alone with just my dogs sure gives me a little peace of mind for a little while....

I really enjoy hunting alone for all the reasons mentioned above. But. I'm always running different scenarios thru my head of what could possibly happen, good and bad. I find myself to be more cautious in my movements, slippery creek banks can turn a fun hunt into a bad day quick. When slipping into a bayup, I always get close enough downwind to see the hog, so I can decide if I want to catch it, kill it, or just tone the dogs off it. You have to know, and admit your limitations to yourself, to make the correct decisions when alone. A bad decision when hunting hogs alone, can be your last one.

I hunt by myself 95% of the time. Just me and 2 big RCDs at a time. Usually get 4 to 6 pigs each time out before I'm to work down to go for more. That includes bringing the pigs out and loading them be it alive or dead. Often times the dogs will get a double (each catch their own) then role out for another. At that point I'm usually exauhested and I just escort the dogs back to the truck and get my retrieval cart. Water the dogs back at the truck and tie them up so they can't go off hunting and are forced to rest while I retrieve pigs for the next hour or 2. My type dogs are not very safe to hunt with dogs that bark so I hunt alone
