It started off good with Bayou going out and baying a Lil 80# boar. We got separated with Bull and Chris going in a different direction and Charlie going in another. Charlie's dog had been running a big boar and I cut Hank into her and they Bayed. She came out all cut to ribbons and the hog broke. I could not get a signal on Hank. I do ally rode around  a d could hear him baying. I cut a young dog into him mostly to get something I could track with Hank. Hog broke and headed down river and I got close enough to turn some young dogs in. They got there and bayed 44 yards away from us and I did not have a bulldog I called Charlie and he was trying to get out of a slough but was having a tough time because of low tide. Called Bull and he was stuck on a mudflat. We sat there listening to a roar and this was a bad dude. He sent one of my young dogs out with some bad cuts. Another young dog came out with intestines dragging. O e more came out sliced and diced and the hog broke. Only Hank was left. Charlie showed up and I told him to put two dogs in and they trailed off after Hank. I gave Charlie my Alfa and took off to the Vet. Got there and she did not like the odds on the pup surviving so we put hi. Down. Got back 3 hours later and Bull was going in to Hank bayed up. He caught a big sow. Somewhere they swapped hogs. My two dogs Bayou and Clyde had been out all day and they had been bated several times, just could not get to them. We finally found them later up on the river bank that afternoon all cut up. Bayou was pretty bad but we thought we had all the bleeding stopped. Next day, he was not looking good so I took him in to the Vet on Sunday. One look and the Vet said he was going Septic and had lockjaw (tetnas). Vet said he had a 50-50 chance. Did not get all the pic, cause we had to staple up about 6 dogs a d put drains in two Caught 5 altogether but if the tide would have been up, we should have caught 3 or 4 more. Not a good day for the you g dogs..

More bad news
Vet called this morning and Bayou did not survive the night. Something to thi nK about, Bayou was getting gangrene and Tetanus. I witnessed the Vet trying to get Bayous jaws apart to insert a tube and he could not do it. That marsh is some nasty stuff full of bacteria. Bayou was making a fine hound and doing great for a 2 year old. He is the dog in the middle on the bow.

Mike, I'm sorry to hear about the dogs. I know it doesn't help much and I don't know where it came from, but I thought this when I heard about loosing two fine young dogs like that. "To conquer the Master of the Woods, sometimes we must pay the Beast."

Sorry about your losses, Cajun. Hope you and the rest of the dogs get healed up. I like reading your hunting  stories. Really makes me think hard about one of those gritty Plott dogs.
