I just got home from my month in Texas. A good year and a bad one. Caught 30 total and half those were toothy boars. Biggest had to be in the 270 range. But I got a couple pretty good scares with my bulldog this year. I hunted a bunch with some young guys as Tdog was working. Myself and 3 youngsters turn out one of those warm mornings and the dogs headed out. We were waiting for a bay when a good size sow came across the pasture. We hesitated a bit too long in cutting Gus loose. He got within about 15 ft. when she hit the woods. We were all running that way and I looked at the Garmin and he was gone off it. Long story short. The antenna was broke and we spent over 3 hours looking for him. He finally found the bay dogs and hooked up with them. They were 4 miles from where we dropped. The last weekend on the biggest hog he got cut right through the eye, I was afraid he lost the eye but Dr. Clemmons at Dime Box trimmed some cornea off and stitched the lids up and I am hoping he will still see out of it. He also took several pokes under the chin and got an upper cutter knocked out. It was a heck of a fight till we got him legged. The boys I hunted with sure made it easier for a 63 yr.old to keep catching hogs. There is nothing like watching an all state linebacker run to the bay in crocks and throw a big boar. 15 toothy boars in one month is impressive...T-dog has a good line of Hog dogs doing it right...  Wayout...sounds like an excellent trip regardless...hopefully your bulldog will see out of that eye... |

Joel, just a couple of days ago a friend of mine was telling me about eye injuries on her goats and she said colloidal silver works better than antibiotics that her vet had given her...I don’t have any personal experience on this but thought I’d pass it on to you... http://naturallysavvy.com/live/how-to-heal-a-scratched-cornea |

It was a good trip, I was lucky enough to hunt with a couple brothers from Milano and a young fellow from Rockdale, all still in high school. They were all 3 very good hands and fun to be around. Good to see youngsters doing it the right way. My bulldog seems to be healing. I believe he has some vision in the eye. He is getting antibiotics and a ophthalmic drop. Rueben, Thomas does have a good set of dogs. There were a couple times we had a single dog holding a group of hogs till help came. We hunted up by Burlington a couple times though and found out their feet weren't huff enough. That was tuff hunting. I got to hunt over by Cypress one day and we caught 9 that day. At one point we were tying 3 at the same time. I am not sure I like hunting where you see alligators tho. That made me nervous.

Sounds like a heckuva trip!
Who did you hunt with in Cypress? I hunt and have hunted all around that country over the years... still have a big chunk not far from there.
