Do you think a catch dog with cropped ears has more trouble locating a bay and telling the direction than one with out cropped ears?

I know a guy that has a RCD with cropped ears and he’s a beast. Doesn’t have any issues

I've had them with and without clipped ears. I've never had a problem with them being clipped. In fact, I prefer them clipped, not cut off at the head, because a catch dog is going in the thickest of the thick 9 out of 10 catches because that's where the hog is going to be. The first thing that is going to get snagged on briars are their ears and they're gonna bleed and bleed most of the time. The dog isn't hurt but it sure looks bad and it's gonna get all over you and everything there because he's going to shake. With clipped ears it isn't an issue.
